Sustainable by Nature. Considered by Design.
OUR ETHOS
At Small Wonder, our ethos is grounded in care, for the land, for each other, and for the future. We believe wines of true character begin with living soils and thoughtful stewardship. Every decision we make is shaped by this guiding principle.
Two Valleys. One Philosophy.
Perched on the western ridge of Tasmania’s Tamar Valley, our organically certified vineyard (ACO 13305) is a place of quiet vitality. Here, sustainable farming practices restore biodiversity, enrich the soil, and ensure that every vine is part of a living, connected system. Solar energy helps power the winery. Cover crops restore biodiversity. Lightweight, recyclable packaging supports our path toward carbon neutrality.
Further south in the Coal River Valley, our second vineyard is now in conversion to organic certification. We’re applying the lessons learned in the Tamar Valley to farm this site with the same care and commitment to sustainability. Its sunlit slopes and cool continental climate are already bringing a new dimension to our understanding of Tasmania’s immense winegrowing potential.
Small yet ambitious.
Though we are small, we think ambitiously. We believe the most powerful change often begins at the edges, with caretakers who act with purpose, and with wines that speak softly, yet leave a lasting impression.
Our winemaking is intentional and guided by a light-touch mentality. Fruit is hand-picked at optimal natural ripeness and handled with precision to preserve freshness, texture, and the detail of site. From vineyard to bottle, we aim to reflect the quiet wonder of this place.
“Small Wonder is committed to making everything we touch better... we feel it’s an obligation to be committed to better practices, better vineyards, better processes, and better wines. Ultimately, we want to make small local efforts that connect us to the movement that brings global change.”
