Small Wonder Claims Best Rosé Trophy and Gold for Sparkling at the 2026 Tasmanian Wine Show

The 2025 Small Wonder Landscape Rosé has been awarded the Labelhouse Trophy for Best Rosé at the 2026 Tasmanian Wine Show. Presented to the highest-scoring gold medal wine in Class 14: Rosé (any vintage), this marks Small Wonder’s second consecutive year as trophy winner in this category, which is a rare and rewarding achievement.

Judges praised the wine’s balanced flavour, acidity and structure, noting it stood out for its quality of fruit. Small Wonder has now been recognised with a trophy at the Tasmanian Wine Show for four consecutive years, a reflection of the depth, consistency and quality across the wider portfolio.

This year’s results also saw the 2021 Small Wonder Blanc de Noirs awarded a Gold Medal in Class 7: Sparkling – 2021 Vintage and Older, further underscoring the strength of the Small Wonder range across styles.

Together, the recognition of the Blanc de Noirs and the back-to-back success of the Landscape Rosé, alongside broader recognition of our wines at this show, year after year, speaks to the exacting standards Small Wonder applies across all its wines, from meticulous vineyard management through to selective final blending.

What the judges recognised in the 2025 Landscape Rosé

Rosé leaves very little room for excess. Colour, texture, aroma and acidity must sit in precise alignment. The 2025 Landscape Rosé was recognised for achieving exactly that balance.

Pale pink in the glass, it is delicate and slender yet delivers a serious flavour hit. Layered wild berry fruit meets a subtle savoury edge, supported by snug acidity and a concentrated, textural feel. There’s an uncanny sense of richness without weight — everything in its place.

How the wine was made

The 2025 Landscape Rosé is a blend of three Pinot Noir clones sourced from our Tamar Valley and Coal River Valley vineyards. Fruit was hand-picked in late March, chilled overnight to limit colour and phenolic extraction, then gently and quickly pressed to achieve a pale pink juice with fine aromatic detail.

Fermentation took place slowly at cool temperatures in stainless steel to preserve freshness and clarity. The wine then spent three months on lees, building texture and softness while retaining line and lift. The result is a rosé shaped by restraint, patience and precise viticulture, rather than overt winemaking.

Our winemaker, Ockie Myburgh, says, 'Winning the Labelhouse Trophy for Best Rosé is a real honour, and to receive it for the second year in a row makes it especially meaningful. Rosé is a style where precision matters at every step, so this recognition is incredibly rewarding for the whole team. It reflects the consistency we’re striving for in the vineyard and the winery, and we’re genuinely grateful to the judges for recognising the balance, detail and fruit quality in the 2025 Landscape Rosé.'

Gold for Sparkling: 2021 Blanc de Noirs

Alongside the rosé trophy, the 2021 Blanc de Noirs received a Gold Medal in the sparkling category, reinforcing Small Wonder’s growing reputation for traditional method wines.

This result builds on earlier success at the show, where the 2021 Blanc de Blancs was awarded the House of Arras Trophy for Best Vintage Sparkling at the 2024 Tasmanian Wine Show, further reaffirming the strength, direction and consistency of Small Wonder’s sparkling program.

Four years of trophies: building momentum at the Tasmanian Wine Show

This year’s results extend a remarkable run of success. Small Wonder has now been recognised with a trophy at the Tasmanian Wine Show for four consecutive years, reflecting not a single standout release, but sustained excellence across the portfolio.
